Muscular Imbalance Assessment (London)

The Muscular Imbalance Assessment is for clients who're looking to overcome a specific training plateau (e.g. progress has slowed in a certain lift or skill they’d like to improve) OR they can't seem to shake a persistent niggle with traditional rehab/prehab exercise prescriptions (e.g. hip 'pinching' or back pain during/after sessions).

The aim of the assessment it to identify asymmetries (which we all have) & any compensations within the movements that the client is experiencing issues with. We understand how the body works as an integrated system & use a systematic approach to identify the root cause of the problem.

Post assessment clients receive a full report outlining the key findings, a mini-program & examples of how to integrate into their current training routine.

Note from Fred: After years of seeing countless physio's & rehab therapists being exposed to this approach changed the game completely for me. Like anything in life, you need to put in the work to reap the rewards - your body has built bad habits over the course of your life & the more of this clients can integrate into their training the better.

Assess Session

This is a comprehensive movement screen that takes approximately 2hrs to identify muscle imbalances, asymmetries & the root cause of restrictions.

We will work systematically through Range Of Movement, Stability & Functional Movement tests in relation to your training in order to identify areas of dysfunction.

We then design personalised movements to address these restrictions & build a program with video assistance to implement into your training.

Progress Session

Suitable as a follow up to an 'Assess' session that can normally be done in 1hr. Here we can look at the improvements you've made & progress/adjust exercise prescriptions as necessary to ensure progressive overload continues.

Following this you will receive an updated mini mechanics program to complete in isolation &/or integrated within your current fitness programming.

Gains Without Pains

As mentioned at the top of this page, the more this approach is integrated into a training program the better the performance gains & chances of overcoming plateaus.

For some clients the mini-mechanics program is enough to go alongside their normal training, however for those looking to incite serious & sustainable change to their health, performance & body composition we offer full programming with nutritional support.

What People Are Saying…

Tom Bliss Fitness

“My biomechanics assessment with Fred & Ash was nothing short of world class. They put me through a full body movement screen but specifically centred around hip dysfunction to investigate my niggling & ongoing knee pain. Their thought process was second to none & I can’t help but praise the methodology behind the assessment.”

— Tom Bliss, London (Coach & Athlete)

Working with Fred has changed the game for me. Despite training 6 days per week previously my weight stayed the same and niggles held me back. Fred’s functional approach has built muscle, flexibility, and strength and exceeded all expectations.

Over a period of 18 months the programming has been diverse, engaging and constantly challenging. At 43, I feel in the best shape of my life and able to compete and hold my own with guys 10yrs younger.

— Phil Waind, London (Architect)

“Working with Fred was an absolute game changer! Being a coach also, I often found myself falling into mediocre training schedules as a matter of ‘just getting it done’.

It wasn’t until I was able to work with Fred intensively and focus on my range of movement and stability in such detail, did I see myself unravel a new found passion for what I do on a daily basis. From my performance excelling alongside my aesthetic and most importantly PAIN FREE, I couldn’t be happier! ..Be prepared for some sweat, tears and good craic!”

— Kristy Grant, New Zealand (Personal Trainer)

I enjoy the technical aspect of Fred’s method to programming. Stability and mobility drills are cleverly intertwined into the strength work we do, there is a real focus on getting the joints moving in the right way. I only have a limited amount of time to train so this hybrid approach has worked really well in enabling me to transform my physique whilst also working towards being pain free.

— Virendra Chauhan, Singapore (Finance)

“Before working with Fred I’d struggled with a knee injury for around 6 years & every time I started progressing with my training there was always a sticking point & I’d end up injured again because I wasn’t moving properly.

I’ve worked with Fred for 1 year now and have progressed more than in the previous 6 years. I’m now lifting heavier weights, running sprints (something I thought was off the table), and actually enjoy pain-free training sessions.

Fred’s amazing at checking in on me to see how everything’s going & he has a very clear picture of my limitations (based on recurrent assessments). The progressions I get each block are therefore always on point and really exciting – He has a different way of blending strength, conditioning & corrective exercises that help to keep me strong and injury free.”

— Pamela Ibarra, Singapore (Head of Nutrition & Personal Trainer)

I’ve see an improvement on all levels in just a few months training with Fred. His programming challenges me on many fronts, especially when working on the energy systems that I would normally avoid. Each block has a clearly defined stimulus & the focus on movement mechanics has helped me move towards the strength targets we set out.

Not only have I gained significant upper-body strength, I am able to now run pain-free and I look leaner. His training is far from a breeze but I feel accomplished after every session
